About Purabi Dairy (WAMUL)

  • Purabi is the dairy brand of West Assam Milk Producers’ Cooperative Union Limited (WAMUL) and is approved by the Food Safety and Standards Authority of India (FSSAI).
  • Established in: 1976 under the Operation Flood Programme of the National Dairy Development Board (NDDB).
  • Initially covered the districts of Nagaon, Morigaon, Goalpara, Nalbari, and Kamrup to promote cooperative dairy development.
  • Currently managed by: National Dairy Development Board (NDDB).
  • Processing capacity: A fully automated Liquid Milk Plant at Panjabari, Guwahati, processes 1.5 lakh litres of milk per day.
  • Cattle Feed Plant: Located at Changsari, Kamrup, with a production capacity of 50 metric tonnes of cattle feed per day, along with a 25 metric tonnes per day bypass protein plant and a 12 metric tonnes per day mineral mixture plant.
  • Current outreach: Supports nearly 60,000 dairy farming families across 2,524 villages, making it one of the largest dairy cooperatives in Northeast India.
