Recently the eighth Kalicharan Brahma Award was announced for 2026.

About the Award

  • The Kalicharan Brahma Award is an annual honour given to individuals for their outstanding contribution to Brahma Dharma philosophy and social reform.
  • The 2026 award has been conferred on:
  • Ramesh Chandra Bharadwaj
  • Karenra Basumatary (posthumously)

Prof. Bhardwaj, a distinguished scholar of Indian Philosophy and the Indian Knowledge System, has over three decades of academic experience at the University of Delhi.

His contributions to Vedic studies, Mimamsa philosophy, and Indo-European research have earned him wide recognition.

Late Karendra Basumatary, popularly known as “Mugani Dawharu,” will be honoured posthumously for his contributions as a socio-political leader.

He served as President of the All Bodo Students Union from 1983 to 1986 and as a Member of the Legislative Assembly during 1991–1996 and 2001–2011.

It is presented on the occasion of Kalicharan Brahma Jayanti.

About Kalicharan Brahma

  • Kalicharan Brahma was a prominent social reformer and spiritual leader of the Bodo community.
  • He propagated Brahma Dharma, a reformist religious movement promoting:
    • Social equality
    • Moral upliftment
    • Community development
  • He received initiation (Diksha) into Brahma religion in Kolkata and worked for the upliftment of the Bodo society.
