    • Urban areas: Minimum built-up area fixed at 1 bigha for Lower Primary to Secondary schools.

    • Schools must continue to comply with sanitation facilities, safe drinking water, boundary walls, toilets, disaster management measures, and Divyang-friendly infrastructure norms.
  • Land Reclassification for Industrial Development: The Cabinet approved the Assam Regulation of Re-classification and Reclassification-cum-Transfer of Lands (Amendment) Bill, 2026.
  • Key Features of the bill:
    • Agricultural land can now be converted for Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises, hydrocarbon projects, and solar energy projects.
    • Deputy Commissioner approval will no longer be required for these sectors.
    • An online automatic approval portal will be introduced to improve ease of doing business.
    • The reform aims to accelerate industrialisation, renewable energy development, and employment generation.
