The Assam State Cabinet has approved a series of infrastructure, administrative, and governance reforms, including road projects, police service rules, land law amendments, and welfare-related decisions.

Major decisions approved

• The Cabinet sanctioned ₹115 crore for widening and construction of roads in: Karbi Anglong, West Karbi Anglong, Dima Hasao and Tinsukia.
  • This aims to improve connectivity in hill and border districts.
• The Assam Police Manual will be amended to allow both armed and unarmed branch personnel to appear in the examination for the post of Assistant Sub-Inspector, promoting equal career opportunities.
  

Land governance reforms

• Two amendments were approved to the Assam Land and Revenue Regulation, 1886.
• These will enable: Digital hearings, Electronic submission of documents and Technology-driven service delivery
• The reforms are expected to: Reduce case pendency, Improve transparency and give legal validity to electronic proceedings
• The move aligns the state with the National Incentive Framework, making Assam eligible for incentives up to ₹150 crore.
  

Other Reforms

• Over 31 bighas of land at Sonapur was allotted to the Tirupati Tirumala Devasthanam.
• The Cabinet approved land pattas for around 900 families in Kamrup (Metro) under the Basundhara scheme, strengthening land tenure security.
• Services of eight employees of Mumbai Assam Bhawan were regularised.
• The post of Liaison Officer at Assam Bhawan, New Delhi, was temporarily upgraded to Senior Liaison Officer.
