Before understanding the threat, it is important to know the basics of this iconic mountain bird.

  • Appearance & Habitat: The Himalayan Monal is a large, high-altitude pheasant. The males are famous for their incredibly bright, metallic, rainbow-colored feathers. The females, however, are dull brown to camouflage and hide from predators.
