The Confederation of Indian Industry Centre of Excellence on Employment and Livelihood has launched its flagship MSME Project in Guwahati to strengthen Assam’s MSME sector.

• The initiative operates under the Confederation of Indian Industry Centre of Excellence on Employment and Livelihood.
• It is spearheaded in Assam in collaboration with the Assam Industrial Development Corporation and the CII Guwahati Entrepreneurs Development Forum.
• The project was formally launched by the Managing Director of Assam Industrial Development Corporation, M N Dahal.

Objectives of the Project

• To provide structured business transformation support to micro and small enterprises.
  
• To improve productivity, competitiveness and market access.
  
• To build entrepreneurial capacity through mentoring and technical guidance.
  
• To strengthen Assam’s MSME ecosystem in line with national initiatives such as the Atmanirbhar Bharat Abhiyan and the Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises Development Act, 2006.
  

Why MSMEs Matter for Assam

• MSMEs contribute significantly to employment generation, especially in rural and semi-urban areas.
• Government-supported schemes in Assam have already benefited over 25,000 individuals, many of whom have established viable enterprises.
• MSMEs are key drivers of inclusive economic growth and local value addition.
