Why in the News?
The Prime Minister is scheduled to visit Manipur and during this visit, he will inaugurate and lay foundation stones for development projects worth ₹8,500 crore to promote peace, normalcy, and growth after ethnic violence in the state.
Key Details of the Projects
The total amount of ₹8,500 crore is split approximately into:
₹7,300 crore for projects in Churachandpur (areas badly affected by conflict).
₹1,200 crore for projects in Imphal, the state capital.
The PM will also meet with internally displaced persons in both Churachandpur (Kuki-Zo majority area) and Imphal (Meitei majority area) to address their concerns directly.
