A 3.5-foot bronze-finish bust of legendary Assamese singer Zubeen Garg was installed at his Kahilipara residence on his 53rd birth anniversary.
Zubeen Garg’s Bust Unveiled
- A moving tribute unfolded on Tuesday as the 3.5-foot bust of Zubeen Garg, one of Assam’s most iconic cultural figures, was inaugurated at his Kahilipara residence.
- The unveiling was done by his father Kapil Thakur and wife Garima Saikia Garg, in the presence of admirers, artists, neighbours, and fans who gathered early in the morning to honour his legacy.
- Created by sculptor Jyoti Shankar Bhattacharyya, with support from Manjit Kalita, the bust was crafted free of cost.
- The initiative was taken by the Synergy Imperial Residential Society, whose secretary stated that the installation aims to preserve Zubeen’s memory as a source of lasting inspiration for future generations.
- The pedestal was designed by renowned architect Gautam Baruah, and the apartment premises were decorated with murals showcasing Zubeen’s portraits and musical instruments, supported by the State Bank of India.
- The day-long celebrations included Bhagawat Path, Nagara Naam, cultural performances, and participation of schoolchildren—highlighting the singer’s intergenerational influence.
